Kristen L. McMichael

Senior Counsel

Kristi represents employers in individual, multi-party employment litigation in federal and California state court on a broad range of employment issues, including wage and hour, unfair competition, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and breach of contract. She also represents employers before administrative agencies such as the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”), the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (“DFEH”), and the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (“DLSE”).

Kristi regularly counsels employers on a variety of employment issues, including:

• Employment practices and compliance in daily operations
• Leaves of absence
• Disability accommodations
• Wage & hour and other compensation disputes
• Harassment and discrimination claims
• Retaliation claims
• Severance pay issues
• Terminations
• Reductions in force and office closures
• Litigation avoidance

She also helps employers achieve compliance with federal, state and local laws by drafting, reviewing and updating employment policies and procedures. Prior to joining Shuman Snyder LLP, Kristi was an Associate at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, DLA Piper, and Allen Matkins, practicing employment law.
