Susan E. Stark

Senior Attorney

Susan has extensive experience in employment law counseling and business litigation. She has represented corporations, executives and other high-ranking employees in employment matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, compensation and severance pay disputes, breach of contract and actions brought under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). Susan has advised companies, founders and executives on liability assessment and risk exposure; providing strategies to avoid formal litigation. She has also litigated business cases with claims of breach of contract, Labor Code violations, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, invasion of privacy and insurance issues. Relying on her deep litigation background, Susan is adept at strategizing effective handling of every phase of litigation from complaint filing through discovery, mediation, arbitration and trial.

Prior to joining Shuman Snyder, Susan was a senior attorney at Pierce & Shearer, LLP where she handled employment law matters, real estate and business litigation.  She continues to hold leadership roles in her country club and community organizations.

Susan also serves on a panel of six lawyers who represent both student Complainants and Respondents through Stanford University’s Student Title IX Process which addresses all instances in which a Stanford student is either an alleged victim or alleged perpetrator of sexual violence.  In this role, Susan represents both student Complainants and Respondents in cases involving any form of sexual harassment (including sexual violence, stalking, and domestic and dating violence).
