From the Founding Partners
February 1, 2012
Between the two of us, we have over 50 years of employment law experience – all of it with the same firms where we began practicing in 1981 and 1990, respectively. We both assumed we would finish our careers where they started. So much for assumptions.
We first met nearly 10 years ago when we had a case against each other. Not surprisingly, it involved a high-level executive with claims against his former employer. Through that matter, we developed respect for one another as tough and effective advocates who shared the belief that civility and professionalism matter. We also appreciated the fact that neither of us took himself too seriously. Over the ensuing years, our mutual respect and shared values helped forge what has become an excellent working relationship. A great friendship developed as well.
As we’ve discussed our profession and common goals (and debated who was the more effective lawyer in that first client dust-up; if we ever resolve that one, we’ll let you know), we learned that we both enjoy practicing law in much the same way. That “way” can be distilled down to three elements: responsiveness, practicality, and a sense of humor. We have been blessed with clients who appreciate these qualities, and who enjoy collaborating with us to get the job done right.
Once we realized that we had the same vision for our practices, it took us no time to determine that we wanted to (and should) practice law together. Now that we have opened our firm with a great team of professionals, we look forward to helping our clients achieve prompt, practical, and economical solutions to their thorniest employment law problems. With an occasional smile tossed into the package.
